March Group Supervision 2022

Our 2nd Tuesday group is meeting March 8th at 1:00pm

Our 3rd Thursday group is meeting March 17th at 6am

Our 2nd Friday group is meeting March 11th at 9:30am

We’re continuing to address anti-oppression topics this supervision session.

Last week we discussed our own individual evolution around topics of anti-oppression and anti-racism and began exploring our location of self and our individual identities which are our lens in the therapeutic setting. We will continue this conversations and discuss ethics around deciding when to treat/serve vs. refer out. We will also begin to discuss the creation of a JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) action plan as a clinical social worker or therapist.

When our aim is to work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racism and social justice lens, it’s vital we engage in conversation to collaboratively strive to understand our our social location, our privileged and subjugated identities, as well as that of those we serve.

Learning how to address issues of race in a therapeutic setting, largely depends upon the ability to safely, openly, and honestly discuss issues in a supervisory context, as well as situations that challenge our comfort zones, our biases, and allow for movement and growth as a clinician. In this space we’ll commit to allowing a safe space for discomfort to learn from one another.

See you all soon! Take good care.
